  • (polarizing filters) Used on camera lenses to selectively remove excess light.

  • A common filter that removes reflections from water, glass and other surfaces, it also increases colour saturation.

  • A photographic or optical filter that polarizes the light passing through it, used chiefly for reducing reflections and improving contrast. Two polarizing filters are often used together, such that rotation of one of them results in a neutral density filter of variable density

Ok, my first photo session with the new combo sucked! I messed up with the new Metz flashes and the CLS system and also was stubborn enough to use the ultra wide angle lens for photos more suitable of a 35mm. No complains about the gear, justa about me. How important it is to know your stuff properly. I know the D80 and the sigma 10-20 so well I could use them blinfolded, but with this new outfit I have to put some hours. The only thing I don't like is the visible vignetting (jpeg from RAW edited in ACR only) that I think is due to the polarizing filter. I am afraid I have to go for a ultra thin one, and in 77mm ain't cheap... :-)

For lunchtime, I was trying out a new 77mm polarizing filter. While turning the filter it fell off in the creek. It cleaned up fine. Another learning experience. :)
